The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Christian Leadership and Management is a professional doctoral programme that equips experienced Christian leaders with advanced knowledge and practical skills in leadership, management, research, and ministry. It prepares graduates to provide transformational leadership in churches, faith-based organisations, and other institutions.

 


UNIQUENESS AND JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROGRAMME

The Doctor of Ministry programme is uniquely designed to integrate advanced theological reflection with practical leadership and management skills required for contemporary Christian ministry. The programme responds to the growing leadership challenges facing churches and Christian organisations in the twenty-first century, including issues arising from globalization, modernization, pluralism, organisational development, governance, financial management, conflict resolution, and strategic leadership.

 


OBJECTIVES OF THE  PROGRAMME

The main objective of the Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Christian Leadership and Management programme is to equip experienced Christian ministers, church leaders, and professionals with advanced leadership, managerial, and research competencies for effective ministry and transformational leadership. The programme seeks to deepen students’ understanding of ministry, strengthen leadership capacities, enhance research and communication skills, and prepare graduates for executive leadership roles in churches, parachurch organisations, educational institutions, and the wider society.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applications are invited from holders of Master’s degrees in Religious Studies, Theology, Divinity, Christian Ministry, and other relevant disciplines such as MPhil, MTh, MDiv, MA, MSc, and MBA from accredited institutions.

Applicants must possess a minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience in Christian ministry or five (5) years of part-time ministry experience. In addition, all applicants are required to successfully pass the Doctor of Ministry admission interview before admission is granted.


DURATION:

The Doctor of Ministry is a three-year professional doctoral programme comprising six semesters. The programme consists of taught courses, seminar presentations, and supervised thesis research.

Students undertake coursework during the first year, followed by research seminars and thesis development in the second year, culminating in the completion and oral defence of a doctoral thesis in the third year. Students are required to complete between 85 and 91 credit hours for graduation.


LECTURE SESSIONS: (Weekends)

The programme is delivered through a hybrid mode, combining in-class and online lectures with weekend sessions, seminars, presentations, independent study, and supervised research. Lectures are facilitated by experienced academics and practitioners using interactive teaching methods, including classroom discussions, case studies, presentations, and blended learning approaches that support both physical and virtual participation.


EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS 

Graduates of the Doctor of Ministry in Christian Leadership and Management programme are equipped for senior leadership and executive positions within churches, parachurch organisations, theological institutions, seminaries, colleges, universities, faith-based organisations, and the public sector.

The programme prepares graduates to serve as Senior Pastors, Church Administrators, Chaplains, Seminary and University Lecturers, Christian Leadership Consultants, Executive Directors, Ministry Trainers, Researchers, and leaders in Christian organisations such as the Bible Society of Ghana, Scripture Union, World Vision, Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students, and other local and international faith-based organisations. Graduates also acquire leadership competencies that enable them to contribute effectively to governance and management within secular organisations.
