CSUC joined other universities, polytechnics and organisations in Ghana to celebrate this year’s African Universities Day, held at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), Accra on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Prof. Joshua Alabi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), chaired the occasion.
Organised by the Association of African Universities (AAU), on the theme, “Changing Higher Education Landscape in Africa: Highlighting Success Stories”, the celebration included an exhibition and it created a forum for discussion on the theme among key figures present.
African Universities Day was instituted following a decision of the Organization of African Unity (now African Union) in 1994. The day is celebrated on November 12 each year and has the objective of sensitizing stakeholders of education on the role of the African university in the socio-economic development of Africa.
The University College was represented by its President, Prof. (Mrs.) Frances Owusu-Daaku, and CSUC’s exhibition stand was manned by Mr. Richard Opoku, Partnership Development Assistant and Mr. Kwaku Oppong-Boateng, IT Support Assistant.
