WEEKEND SCHOOL

Message from the Dean

(Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah)

Welcome to the Weekend School. As your Dean, I am pleased to present to you the school, purposefully designed to accommodate the academic aspirations of working professionals and individuals with demanding weekday schedules. Since its inception in August 2024, the Weekend School has positioned itself as a beacon of opportunity, academic excellence, and spiritual formation. We remain committed to creating a conducive learning environment grounded in CSU’s core Christian values. I invite you to be part of this transformative journey.

Our Purpose

The Weekend School was established to provide flexible, high-quality academic opportunities for individuals unable to attend weekday classes due to work or other obligations. By offering weekend-focused programmes, CSU bridges the service gap between regular and weekend students, ensuring inclusivity and equal academic experience.

Our Operations

At the weekend school, students receive the same academic structure, semester duration, and certification process as weekday students. We also ensure that essential services such as financial transactions, IT support, and library access are available on weekends. This guarantees a seamless and holistic academic experience tailored to the needs of weekend learners.

Our Administration

The Weekend School is headed by Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Twumasi-Ankrah, here in, the Dean, a seasoned educationist with 27 years of teaching experience and a specialist in Old Testament Exegesis with an African focus. He has been a faculty member at CSU since 2015. The Dean is supported by the Pro Vice-Chancellor, an Administrator, IT Support, and Finance team to oversee efficient academic and administrative operations.

Our Activities

We have introduced key activities to ensure a vibrant and enriching academic environment for our weekend students:

  • Weekend School Community Gathering: Held every Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., this forum encourages academic interaction and student engagement with senior management.
  • Monthly Church Service: Designed for weekend students and modeled after the University’s institutional Wednesday Service. The next service is scheduled for March 8, 2025.
  • Academic Seminars and Workshops: Past events include an Examination Summit and workshops on achieving academic excellence.
  • Library Resource Utilization Seminar: This session is purposely designed to guide students on maximizing access to physical and digital library resources. Past event includes weekend students’ participation in CSU’s inaugural Library Month Celebration in March, 2025.

Our Support Services

For the benefit of our weekend students, and to enhance their experience, CSU has instituted the following dedicated weekend services:

  • Extended Banking Services: On-campus banking available on Saturdays for fee payments and registration.
  • Weekend IT and Finance Support: Dedicated officers available to handle technical and financial matters.
  • Active SRC Engagement: The Students’ Representative Council is actively involved in resolving concerns and promoting a supportive atmosphere.
  • Timetable Optimization: Class schedules have been realigned to remove clashes and improve convenience.

Our Invitation

The Weekend School reflects CSU’s commitment to inclusive, Christ-centred education and holistic student development. With God at the centre, we are here to support you every step of the way. Once again, we welcome you to join this transformative journey of learning, growth, and leadership.
