Christian Service University (CSU) proudly presents Ms. Vivian Amponsah, an innovative and passionate librarian who has been instrumental in modernising and reshaping the CSU Chapman Library since her appointment in September, 2022. As the first female to hold the position of University Librarian at CSU, Ms Amponsah is a trailblazer whose vision and leadership continue to inspire excellence in library and information services.
A seasoned professional with a Master of Philosophy in Information Studies from the University of Ghana, (2017), and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from the University of Cape Coast, (2013), Vivian is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Science at the University of South Africa. Her academic and professional journey reflects a commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering research, and creating inclusive, technology-driven library environments.
At CSU, Ms. Amponsah has led transformative initiatives that have redefined the traditional library experience. Under her leadership, the CSU Chapman Library has undergone a remarkable facelift; including the creation of a television area, a modern lounge, an expanded electronic research and publication platforms, and more recently, an additional boardgame station, and a vibrant discussion area.
Notably, Ms Amponsah spearheaded the University’s first-ever Library Month celebration, a month-long event that significantly boosted awareness and patronage of library resources within the CSU community, among the library fraternity, and across Ghana.
Her contributions go beyond infrastructural development. She is deeply passionate about integrating technology into library services, enhancing access to electronic resources, and promoting information literacy. She is committed to positioning the library as a vital hub for academic excellence, innovation, and holistic student development.
Ms. Amponsah is a chartered member of the Ghana Library Association (GLA), and an affiliate member of Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries of Ghana (CARLIGH), and African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA). She is a recipient of the prestigious 2023 IFLA-WLIC Emerging Leader Grant, and she continues to contribute to scholarly discourse through her research in areas of electronic resources, information literacy, organizational culture in libraries, and digital preservation of cultural heritage (https://scholar.google.com/
In all her endeavours, Vivian blends professionalism with a personal touch, mentoring students, collaborating with faculty, and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.
