Christian Service University (CSU) has appointed Mr. Kwame Agyapong Boafo, Esq., a seasoned legal practitioner and longstanding supporter of the University, as Chairman of the University Council, with effect from December 5, 2025.
In this capacity, Mr. Boafo assumes responsibility for providing strategic oversight and governance leadership to the University Council, drawing on decades of legal expertise, governance experience, and deep institutional knowledge. His association with Christian Service University dates back to the 1990s, when the institution operated as Christian Service College and he served as a Trustee under the Trustees Incorporation Act, 1962 (Act 106). Through this role, he contributed significantly to the development of the University’s foundational governance structures.
Notably, he chaired the Constitutional Committee that drafted the statutes and regulations that supported CSU’s transition to university status in 2005. He later served on the Governing Council when the institution was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee, further strengthening its governance and legal framework.
A Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, and a Notary Public, Mr. Boafo is the Principal Partner of Kwame A. Boafo & Associates, Kumasi. He has been in active legal practice since 1980 and has also contributed to legal education as a Part-Time Senior Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law (Kumasi Campus), where he teaches Civil Procedure.
His professional career includes conducting landmark legal cases that have shaped Ghanaian jurisprudence, as well as public service at both regional and national levels, including his tenure as Chairman of the Regional Lands Commission and Member of the National Lands Commission. In recognition of his contributions to the legal profession, he received the Ghana Bar Association (Ashanti Region) T.A. Totoe Award in December 2025.
Beyond his legal and public service career, Mr. Boafo has maintained an active presence in Christian leadership and community service, holding several leadership roles within the Methodist Church Ghana and other faith-based and civic organisations. This record of service aligns strongly with CSU’s Christian ethos. He served as Lay Chairman of the Kumasi Diocese and later as Lay President of the Methodist Church Ghana, each for a four-year term—positions through which he also became a member of the Councils of the Methodist University College and Trinity Theological Seminary. He has additionally served as Ghana Ambassador of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International.
His appointment comes at a significant moment in the University’s journey, as CSU consolidates its governance structures under its Presidential Charter and advances its strategic vision for academic excellence, ethical leadership, and institutional sustainability.
The University Management and Council congratulate Mr. Kwame Agyapong Boafo, Esq., on his appointment and express confidence that his depth of experience, institutional memory, and commitment to Christian values will provide steady leadership and sound governance for Christian Service University.
