
Christian Service University (CSU) on December 17, 2025, formally installed Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Kwaku Asante as its first Chancellor at a historic investiture ceremony held at the University Auditorium.
The installation marked a defining milestone in the life of the University, following the grant of its Presidential Charter, and was rendered particularly symbolic by the fact that Most Rev. Prof. Asante is a proud alumnus of the institution and one of its first four pioneering students. His elevation to the highest ceremonial office of the University stands as a powerful reflection of the institution’s heritage, growth, and enduring legacy.
In his Acceptance Speech, Prof. Asante expressed deep humility and gratitude for the honour, describing his appointment as both a privilege and a solemn responsibility. He paid tribute to the founding visionaries, missionaries, Ghanaian collaborators, past Council Chairmen, Presidents, and Vice-Chancellors whose sacrifices and leadership laid the foundation for the University’s growth and its transition into a chartered institution. He reaffirmed his commitment to the University’s mission of academic excellence, Christian values, service, and societal impact, and called for unity, partnership, and renewed dedication to the University’s future.
He further emphasized his passion for the growth and sustainability of the University, as well as for the strengthening of its alumni and friends’ network. He extended a cordial invitation to all present to become friends of the University and to support its continuous growth.
The ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering from academia, the clergy, Christian institutions, and the wider society, including the media. In attendance were past and present members of the University Council, Management, Staff, Students, Alumni and friends of the University. Among the eminent dignitaries were the Chairman of the University Council, Lawyer S. K. Boafo; the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Stephen Banahene; and the Archbishop Emeritus Peter Kwasi Sarpong.
The Methodist Church Ghana, to which the Chancellor served as a former Presiding Bishop, was fully represented, reflecting the national and international stature of Most Rev. Prof. Asante, whose ministry, scholarship, and leadership have earned him wide respect within Ghana and beyond.
Other attendees at the Investiture included Sister Universities and partner institutions, as well as professional associations, including Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences (GAAS) and the Christians in Science Ghana (CiS Gh), who affirmed the installation of Prof. Asante with goodwill messages.
