The Chapman Library of Christian Service University (CSU) strengthened its digital scholarship drive with a practical workshop on Artificial Intelligence tools for research and library services, held as part of the 2026 Library Month celebration themed “Stewarding Knowledge in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
The hands-on session was facilitated by Dr. Osman Imoro of the University of Cape Coast, who introduced participants to emerging AI technologies and their application in academic research, information retrieval, cataloguing, and scholarly communication. The workshop brought together students, faculty, librarians, and representatives from sixteen institutions.
Dr. Imoro guided participants through practical tools that support literature searches, citation analysis, translation, research summarisation, and digital content creation. The session also explored AI applications in archiving, cataloguing, readers’ advisory services, and administrative tasks within modern academic libraries.
He emphasised the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence, highlighting issues of accuracy, data privacy, transparency, prompt accuracy, and human oversight. Dr. Imoro stressed that AI should augment professional expertise rather than replace it, encouraging users to apply critical judgement when integrating digital tools into research and library practice.
Participants also engaged in interactive sessions that enabled them to experiment with AI platforms for literature reviews, prompt writing, citation generation, and social media planning for library services.
The workshop formed part of the Chapman Library’s broader commitment to equipping the University community with the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital research environment.
