The Christian Service University College (CSUC) has once again teamed up
with the Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF) to host Ghana’s
participants of the 2021 Robofest online World Championship (ROWC) which
ended on Saturday 2 October 2021.
This year’s competition was held online for the second consecutive year due to Covid-19
related challenges. It also witnessed the growth of the formal collaboration between Christian
Service University College (CSUC) and Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF) to
promote robotics inspired education in the country.
The growth in Ghana’s participation was evident with the presentation of 5 teams from
various parts of the country, with CSUC hosting two teams from the middle sector, with one
of the teams from Prempeh College, Kumasi, coming 3rd in the Stackrolls senior division.
Teams participated concurrently across different time zones from various countries including
the US, South Korea, Mexico and Saudi Arabia.
Robotics incorporates a range of skills, and promotes a learning environment for
people with different talents. As part of their preparations, students are made to work
in teams to solve specific problems provided in advance.
The 2021 world online championship marks the fourth undertaking between CSUC and
GRAF which started with the trainer-of-trainers’ boot camp at CSUC, followed by the
National Robotics competition for the middle sector of the country in October 2019, ahead of
the 2020 world online championship.
Various awards were won by the other teams which participated from other parts of the
country with the highest going to the mixed private team from Accra which took 1 st place in
the Stackrolls (senior division). The Right to Dream Academy at Akrade presented two teams
with the all-boys team getting the Best Team Introduction Stackrolls award whilst the all-
girls team came 5 th in the Stackrolls (junior division). High performance Bottlesumo award
was conferred on the team from Presec Legon.
