- CSUC Partners Angel Educational Complex to Host 2 New Education Programmes -
Christian Service University College, Kumasi has succeeded in the establishment of a satellite
centre at Angel Educational Complex (AEC), Kumasi, as part of efforts to open more avenues
for distance education to admit more students for the 2021/2022 academic year and beyond. This
is in readiness to mount 2 new Education programmes which have already received accreditation
and set to take off in October 2021.
According to the Principal and Deputy Managing Director of Angel Educational Complex, Mr.
Agyeman Duah, ‘the collaboration is laudable, and the school is proud to host CSUC’. Likewise,
the President and Management Board of CSUC acknowledge the partnership with AEC, and
extend special gratitude to Dr Kwaku Oteng, the President and Founder of AEC, and the Chief
Executive Officer of the Angel Group of Companies.
Background
Based on its mandate, CSUC has established a Department of Education to train professional
teachers who are knowledgeable, skilled and competent for the basic level of education and
teaching. The programmes are:
1. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Early Childhood Education
2. Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Basic Education.
Rationale
According to statements from the Prof. Sam Afrane, President of CSUC,
“As an institution of higher education to provide spiritual, moral, academic and professional
training for effective Christian ministry, participation in the labour market and life-long learning
and transformation, ‘the need for a Degree in Early Childhood Education programme at CSUC
is in response to the Government of Ghana White Paper on the Anamuah-Mensah Education
Review Committee Report (2002), which made Pre-school/Kindergarten part of the formal
education system in the country’. This development has raised the need to properly train
professional teachers to have the required skills, knowledge and right attitudes to provide good
quality psychosocial, cognitive and affective nurturance practices to handle children in their
formative years. Meanwhile, the 4-year degree programme in Basic Education is a regular one
geared towards the training of a generalist teacher who would be able to teach at both Primary
and Junior High School (J.H.S) levels. The teacher trainee could specialize in either Primary
Education and/or Secondary Education as they climb the professional ladder.”
Target Group and Career Prospects
The Early Childhood Education programme offers training to students and care givers, targeting
crèches/day care, nursery, kindergarten and other traditional child trainers, and it is hoped that
several Career opportunities await successful graduates including:
1. Early childhood Education establishment
2. Social Welfare Operations
3. Early Childhood Care institutions
On the other hand, the Basic Education programme specifically targets those with diploma in
Education, Senior High School students and mature students to be equipped to teach at the basic
school levels in both public and private schools.
CSUC uses this opportunity to call on prospective candidates to enroll, and assures you of a
sound Christian, ethical and quality teaching environment for tertiary training.
