Christian Service University (CSU), Kumasi, has elected its first female Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President since the University’s establishment in 1974.
Chiamaka Francisca Aguh, a Level 300 Nursing student, won the SRC presidential election held on April 24 and 25, 2026, polling 745 votes representing 52 percent of the 1,434 votes cast. She defeated her main contender, James Donkor, to claim the seat.
Ms. Aguh, an international student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Registered General Nursing, previously served as SRC Women’s Commissioner for the 2025/2026 academic year, a position that also made her the first female student to hold a major SRC executive office at CSU. Her presidency covers the 2026/2027 academic year.
Her running mate, Samuel Gyamfi, a Level 300 Communication Studies student, will serve as Vice President. Ms. Aguh described the pairing as a deliberate move toward gender balance and shared leadership.
Speaking on her victory, Ms. Aguh said the milestone extends beyond personal achievement.
“I see it as a historic responsibility, not just a personal victory. It means a lot to me because it shows that young women can rise, lead, and be trusted with great responsibility,” she said.
Before her election, Ms. Aguh was involved in several student welfare initiatives, including the CSU Student Volunteer Hub, the Welfare Alliance Council, and the SRC Welfare Survey System. She also spearheaded the Breast Cancer Awareness Week-Long Programme and organized the Face of CSU pageant in 2026.
Outlining her priorities for the new administration, Aguh said her focus will be on structured leadership, stronger student welfare and academic support systems, improved communication between students and management, and greater inclusion for weekend students.
