The 2025 Face of Christian Service University (CSU) Students’ pageantry, Miss Bernice Mensah (Queen Damtewaa), has launched a student-led outreach project aimed at promoting educational access and restoring confidence among basic school pupils.
Under her pageantry project titled “A Gift of Hope Initiative,” Queen Damtewaa returned to her alma mater, the A.M.E. Zion Junior High School, to donate learning materials and sanitary pads valued at GHS 2,000. She undertook this outreach in her dual capacity as an alumna and as ‘Miss CSU 2025’, with support from members of the 2025 pageantry team, student leaders, and the SRC Women’s leadership.
Explaining her motivation, Queen Damtewaa noted that many pupils in underserved basic schools often struggle with confidence and feel less proud of their institutions. By returning to the same school that nurtured her through her primary and junior high education, she wanted to show that humble beginnings can lead to significant achievement. She encouraged the pupils to stay in school, believe in their potential, and focus on their education.
The donation of sanitary pads, she added, was particularly aimed at supporting adolescent girls to remain in school consistently and confidently, addressing a critical but often overlooked barrier to learning.
Pageantry with Purpose
Reflecting on the broader vision of the ‘Face of CSU Pageantry’, rebranded under the theme “Queens and Kings with a Purpose,” the initiative highlights how student pageantry at CSU extends beyond fashion, entertainment, and stage performance. The platform increasingly serves as a space for advocacy, leadership, and community engagement, encouraging title holders to champion social causes and undertake outreach initiatives that positively impact society.
Queen Damtewaa has expressed her intention to make the initiative an annual project. She also encouraged other pageantry winners and students to give back to their schools, whether at the basic or tertiary level, by supporting education and inspiring younger students to pursue their goals with confidence.
