Christian Service University Inaugurates Strategic Academic Committees to Drive Research Excellence and Pedagogical Reform

2026 International Conference Planning Committee (ICPC)

Christian Service University (CSU) has inaugurated two high-level academic committees aimed at strengthening research visibility, international scholarly engagement, and teaching innovation, as part of its broader strategy to advance academic excellence and institutional growth.

Curriculum and Pedagogical Reform Implementation Committee (CPRIC)

The inauguration ceremony was held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the CSU Conference Room and was officiated by the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Stephen Banahene. The two committees inaugurated were the 2026 International Conference Planning Committee and the Curriculum and Pedagogical Reform Implementation Committee (CPRIC).

Positioning CSU for International Research Visibility

Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Stephen Banahene

In his address, Dr. Banahene noted that the establishment of the 2026 International Conference Planning Committee reflects CSU’s commitment to strengthening its research culture and advancing its international academic standing. He observed that while the University continues to make steady progress in scholarly publication, the next strategic step is to position CSU more visibly within the global research community.

The international conference, scheduled for November 2026, is expected to attract scholars from diverse academic backgrounds and contribute to the University’s visibility, credibility, and global academic networks. Management, he assured, will provide the necessary material support to ensure the success of the conference.

The seven-member committee, chaired by Rev. Prof. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, Dean, Faculty of Humanities, has been tasked with developing the conference theme, identifying keynote speakers, coordinating publicity, reviewing abstracts, managing logistics, and facilitating the publication of selected papers as a special issue of the Journal of Applied Sciences, Arts and Business (JASAB) in 2027.

Driving Curriculum Innovation and Teaching Excellence

The Curriculum and Pedagogical Reform Implementation Committee (CPRIC) was inaugurated to spearhead reforms in teaching and learning in response to changing learner needs, technological advancements, and evolving educational standards.

Dr. Banahene explained that as CSU continues to grow in student numbers and programme offerings, there is a critical need to re-examine teaching methodologies, curriculum relevance, and instructional delivery. He noted that learning has become increasingly diverse and technology-driven, requiring innovative, student-centred, and competency-based approaches.

He acknowledged earlier trainings and workshops undertaken by the University in curriculum and pedagogical reforms and indicated that the CPRIC—composed of experienced faculty experts—has been established to institutionalise and sustain these reforms. The five-member committee, chaired by Nana Danso Boafo, Dean, School of Business, is expected to guide assessment reforms, enhance faculty digital competence, align curricula with national and global standards, and promote the adoption of modern teaching technologies.

Confidence in Expertise and Institutional Growth

Dr. Banahene emphasised that members of both committees were carefully selected based on their expertise, experience, and demonstrated commitment to academic development. He expressed confidence that their collective knowledge would translate into measurable improvements in teaching quality, curriculum relevance, research output, and overall academic standards.

He further encouraged the chairpersons and members to draw on their professional experiences to deepen CSU’s impact on students and the wider academic community.
