The Christian Service University (CSU) has sworn in its new Student Representative Council (SRC) leadership for the 2025/2026 academic year, following one of the most competitive elections in recent history.
The elections, held on May 25 and 26, 2025, through manual voting, recorded a total voter turnout of 1,460, comprising 1,444 valid votes and 16 rejected ballots.

In the presidential race, Mr. Philemon William, a Level 400 BBA Marketing student, secured a resounding victory with 906 votes, the highest tally since the inception of SRC elections at CSU. His closest contender, Ms Agnes Opoku Mensah, polled 538 votes.
Mr. William, who succeeds the Richard-Lilly administration, brings to office a wealth of leadership experience and a strong sense of student advocacy.
He previously served as SRC External Affairs President at Level 200. Inspired by his personal journey—having overcome an eight-year gap as a school dropout—he is determined to ensure that financial hardship does not hinder access to education. Through his Philemon Student Fund, he has already supported over 30 CSU students in paying their tuition fees, a commitment he plans to scale up during his presidency.
Among his administration’s top priorities are:
- Strengthening student financial support through the continuation of the “Boa Wo Nua Fund”;
- Establishing a Police Post on campus to enhance security; and
- Providing digital visual signboards for results checking, information dissemination, and campus-wide announcements.
Joining him in leadership is Miss Grace Otabil, a Level 400 Nursing student, who was elected as Vice President. Their partnership marks the third consecutive time in CSU’s SRC history that a female has served as Vice President, a development Mr. William describes as a deliberate step towards promoting gender inclusivity and amplifying female voices in student leadership.
Brief Profile
Mr. William, a native of Aflao in the Volta Region, is a deacon at the church of Pentecost at Adeabeba-Ahwodwo, and combines his studies with work. He attributes his choice of CSU to the University’s strong Christian values and holistic educational approach. His first encounter with CSU came through a staff alumnus while working with the NGO, ‘Every Child Ministry’ in Kumasi.
The Handing-Over Ceremony
The official handing-over ceremony was held on 15th June 2025 to mark the transition from the Richard-Lilly team to the Philemon-Grace administration. As they assume office, the new SRC leadership has pledged to be a voice for students, uphold transparency, and pursue impactful initiatives that will advance student welfare and CSU’s mission.
