The Christian Service University (CSU) has launched its maiden journal; the Journal of Applied Science, Arts and Business (JASAB). The Journal is an open access peer-reviewed academic journal, published by Christian Service University, with the aim of promoting rigorous research and diverse scholarly dialogue across three broad disciplines: Applied Sciences, Arts and Business. It also aims at providing a platform for multidisciplinary scholarship rooted in real-world impact.
In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Samuel Afrane said the launch of the Journal is yet another significant step in the University’s quest to deepen its research and publication footprints, and to significantly disseminate knowledge as an emerging world-class university. The Vice-Chancellor linked the journal’s origins to key institutional milestones: “This is not just the launch of a publication. It’s a celebration of our identity, our values, and our vision for the future. Following our University Charter in 2023, and the celebration of our golden jubilee, JASAB represents the fruition of a renewed academic mandate,” he said.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Ellis Asamoah, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), underscored the vital role academic journals play in shaping global knowledge and fostering scholarly communities.
“Journals are more than repositories of knowledge, they validate, connect, and inspire. Through journals, institutions like CSU assert their presence in the global knowledge economy, influencing policy, practice, and progress,” he noted.
Prof Asamoah highlighted the qualities that make an academic journal thrive, such as editorial integrity, originality, accessibility, and sustainability, and charged the University to build JASAB into a reputable, world-class journal. “A strong culture of research, ethical publishing, and institutional pride will be key to the Journal’s long-term success, he added.
The journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Rev. Prof. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, said the occasion marks the culmination of dedicated teamwork, careful planning, and a shared commitment to academic excellence at Christian Service University. According to him, The Journal of Applied Sciences, Arts and Business (JASAB) is an open access peer-reviewed academic journal, published by Christian Service University, with the aim of promoting rigorous research and diverse scholarly dialogue across three broad disciplines: Applied Sciences, Arts, and Business.
Referring to the maiden issue as both a landmark achievement and the beginning of a promising journey, Prof Adu-Gyamfi said, the University “remains committed to making JASAB a globally respected and accessible journal.” He commended the editorial team for their tireless efforts in making the publication a reality.
