Christian Service University Chapman Library Hosts Wisconsin University College

Christian Service University (CSU) welcomed a delegation from Wisconsin International University College (WIUC), Kumasi, on a working visit to the Chapman Library as part of a knowledge-sharing tour to explore innovations in library services.

The Vice-Chancellor of CSU, Prof. Samuel K. Afrane, warmly received the guests and underscored the importance of inter-institutional collaboration in enhancing academic service delivery. He commended Wisconsin’s initiative and encouraged libraries to remain relevant by embracing technology and prioritising user satisfaction.

“Libraries are no longer just physical spaces—they must meet users wherever they are,” he stated.

Led by Dr. Ampem Darko, the Wisconsin University College Librarian, the visiting team was taken through the remarkable transformation of Chapman Library—from a traditional setup into a modern, user-centred academic resource hub. The visit provided a platform for showcasing CSU’s cutting-edge library services, extensive information resources, and user engagement strategies that support learning, research, and academic excellence.

The CSU Librarian, Ms. Vivian Amponsah, expressed her delight at the visit, noting that the University is honoured to inspire peer institutions through its strides in modernising library operations. “This visit speaks volumes about the growing visibility of our library and its impact,” she remarked.

On their part, Dr. Ampem Darko expressed appreciation for the warm reception and enriching experience. He noted that the visit formed part of their annual schedule of institutional engagements across the country, aimed at learning from—and adopting—best practices in library service delivery.

Highlights of the engagement included presentations on Chapman Library’s historical evolution since its establishment in 1974, as well as recent innovations such as the introduction of a relaxation area, discussion space, board game station, and enhanced virtual access to digital resources. The team also shared insights from CSU’s nationally recognised month-long Library Celebration held in March 2025.

The visit concluded with a tour of the Chapman Library, networking, a group photo session, and the presentation of CSU customised souvenirs to the visiting team as a token of appreciation.

The Chapman Library’s growing visibility reflects CSU’s forward-thinking approach, and it remains committed to enhancing its services to meet the evolving needs of today’s academic community.
