Nursing Students Qualify For National Quiz Contest

Students from the Department of Nursing of the Christian Service University College, CSUC, have qualified to participate in the National Nursing Students’ Association quiz competition to come off from the 12th to the 15th of November, 2015 at the Central University College, Accra.

The Department, represented by Miss Yaa Gyamera Sarpong, Mr. Vincent Owusu and Mr. Anane Issifu, secured second position with 45 points, only one point behind the winners – Presbyterian University College of Ghana (PUCG). The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology came third with 38 points.

According to President of the CSUC Nursing Students’ Association Miss Korkor Ami Mensah a level 300 student, as part of activities marking this year’s annual congress, the theme for this competition was on Burili Ulcer.

“Buruli Ulcer is a rare and endemic skin condition that is not easy to detect but is very common in the rural areas. Hence, the organisers of this annual quiz competition hope to deepen nursing students’ knowledge of this disease, so we can educate members of our communities,” explained Miss Mensah.

“We hope to bring the trophy to the CSUC as champions of this competition. PUCG won this level with only one point. Our contestants are better prepared this time and we have no doubt that will win this competition,” asserted Mr. Benjamin Obeng, a level 300 nursing student and organiser for the Association.

The CSUC nursing student- stalwarts, together with those from PUCG, will represent universities from the Northern Sector of the country during the national competition. Meanwhile the CSUC Nursing Students’ Association has enjoined both staff and students to support the team with their prayers and their presence during the event.

The CSUC Nursing Students qualified to the final round of  National Nurising Association of Ghana with 45 points, PUC – 46 points.

The participating universities for the northern sector quiz competition were, KNUST, PUC, CSUC GCUC.
