CSUC has held a special graduation ceremony to award certificates to 126 students for successfully completing studies in Certificate in Biblical Studies (CBS) and the School of Ministry (SOM) offered by the Department of Theology. The total number comprised 100 CBS graduates and 26 SOM graduates.

Delivering the keynote address, Rt. Rev. Nuhr Ben Abubekr, Retired Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Kumasi Diocese urged the graduates to apply the training and knowledge acquired to lead people to Christ and assist them to grow in the grace of the Lord until they qualify to enter Heaven. He spoke on the theme “Growing in Christian Service: The Challenges and Prospects.”

Outlining details about how he got converted, Rt. Rev. Abubekr who is also an alumnus of CSUC praised the Christian leader who introduced him to Christ for the training and mentorship he offered him. “The one who led me to accept Christ was always in my house at 5 p.m. every day to assist with my morning devotion. He taught me how to pray, read and meditate on the Word of God and attend church”, Rt. Rev. Abubekr explained.

To this end, he encouraged the graduates to live holy lives worth of emulation, and also urged them to have time for new converts, train and encourage them to fully accept God.

CSUC President, Prof. Sam Afrane announced that the National Accreditation Board (NAB) has granted CSUC accreditation to offer its four-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology programme, with effect from the 2015/2016 Academic Year. He therefore, invited qualified applicants to enroll in the programme.

Prof. Afrane also announced plans by CSUC to introduce E-Learning facility to enable many prospective students to pursue programmes of the University College without the need to come to campus regularly for lectures.

“As a Christian institution of higher education, coupled with a long tradition of theological training, we are interested in creating a conducive environment that will allow more people to undertake our programmes. The E-Learning facility is a distance learning mode which will enable people living outside Kumasi to enroll as students of the University College. This initiative will partially begin next semester”, Prof. Afrane stated.

The president encouraged the graduates not to allow their theological education to terminate with a certificate, but rather consider furthering their education.

The CBS and SOM are programmes designed for church leaders and other professional who are in ministry. The duration for the CBS is one year while that of the SOM is two weeks.

The next CBS programme for the Kumasi centre is set to begin on 7th November, 2015.
