CSUC Deepens Counseling Ministry With Appointment Of More Counsellors

The President Prof. Sam Afrane, on behalf of the management of the CSUC , has appointed two more counselors and an assistant chaplain to augment the work of the CSUC Chaplaincy. This is to fulfillthe University College’s  core mandate of ‘knowing Christ better and making him better known.’

According to Prof. Afrane  the new counselors, Mrs. Sophia Awortwi and Dr. David Okai, would minister to the social, spiritual and psychological needs of members of the CSUC Community to ultimately ensure wholeness of individuals in their relationship with God and their pursuit of academic and social laurels.

Mrs. Sophia Awotwi  is an educationist and a counselor. Mrs. Awotwi was a Biology tutor at the Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School. Then she was transferred to the Ghana Education Service Office. She rose to become the National Director of Science Education in Ghana and ultimately was later awarded with one of Ghana’s most prestigious awards – ‘The Order of the Volta.’ Mrs. Awortwi would be offering general counseling.

Dr. David Okai is a lecturer of the Department of Theology at CSUC. He is a minister of the Assemblies of God Church of Ghana in Kumasi. He holds a PhD in Biblical Studies from the University of Louisiana in the U.S.A.  He lectures both undergraduate and postgraduate Theology students of the University College. He is also a specialist in Pastoral Care and Counseling. Dr. Okai would be offering counseling services to address spiritual and social challenges of members of  the community.

The appointment of the two counselors is to augment the services of the existing counseling services rendered by Mr. Kofi Yamoah, a clinical counselor.

In addition to the counselors, CSUC has also appointed Mr. Paul Diboro as Assisant Chaplain and Coordinator for the Theology Certificate Programmes (CBS and SOM). Mr. Diboro is Pastor of Covenant Praise Chapel at Obuasi. He is currently pursuing his MPhil degree in Religious Studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.
