CSUC Launches 40th Anniversary Celebrations

The 40th anniversary celebrations of CSUC (established in 1974) was launched at the University College on Wednesday, 19th February 2014. The year-long anniversary celebrations has the theme, “CSUC at 40 Years and Growing: Renewing Our Identity”. The Odeneho Kwadasohene, Nana Boakye Dankwah, who officially performed the launch, lauded CSUC for its key contribution to Ghana’s education sector.

Other activities earmarked for the anniversary celebrations include Missions 2014 (an evangelism programme) Anniversary Memorial Lectures, Community Service Day, Alumni Home coming and Fund-raising Day, and Unveiling of Names for Buildings and Facilities. The celebrations will be climaxed by the 40th Anniversary Graduation and a Thanksgiving Service Day in December.

Prof. (Mrs.) Frances Owusu-Daaku, CSUC President in her remarks said 40years marked the end of one generation and the beginning of another. “We are here to officially and publicly begin to celebrate the goodness of our Proprietor these past 40 years; to celebrate the preparatory stage He has taken us through, and to expectantly look forward to the next 40 years in anticipation of increased prosperity: in material things- yes- but more importantly in our relationship and identity as a Christian institution,” she indicated.

According to the President, the anniversary offers CSUC the opportunity to “renew our identity, to ‘stay forever young’ even as we grow; and realize our vision of being a first class Evangelical Christian University which trains products to be people with moral uprightness and academic excellence; and who possess a passion to serve and transform society”. She called on friends and partners, and all and sundry to join in the celebrations, and also called for support towards the University College’s mission of being an academic centre of excellence for teaching, research and service, within an evangelical and sound ethical environment.

In his closing remarks, the Chairman for the occasion who is a pharmacist and also the Chairman of the CSUC Board of Trustees, Dr. Daniel O. Gyane, entreated students to desist from examination malpractice and acts that could jeopardize their future.

The august ceremony was graced by current and former Trustees and Council Members, as well as heads of sister universities and friends of the University College.
